Open Discussion #14

Guys, I need the next few days off. I’m working on a few things. I’ve decided to get back into my crafting: Home made Thank You Cards

I’m making handmade “Thank You” cards for my customers who buy my products. I feel that a personal touch makes the world of difference! I used to LOVE arts and crafts as a child, cutting out paper snowflakes, making origami and homemade birthday cards. Isn’t it funny how we fall away from things as we get older and life becomes “serious?” I urge you to get back to your creativity. It is very soothing.

Since, I no longer watch TV or movies (unless someone really recommends something), my garden, cooking, shop, (soon-to-be) canning and other things, besides family, of course, takes up A LOT of my time.

I’ve been getting into fights lately with the critters that LOVE my garden. You know, I wonder if it’s my aura that draws them in? Yesterday, a bird cursed me out when I told her to step away from my blueberry bush:

DSCN0296[1]

The flowers, they become the fruit, are already beginning to pop out and I think she can smell them. Last year, my family and I were salivating thinking about fresh blueberry buttermilk pancakes. The bird called her entire family over to my yard and ate the whole thing!! She left me one stinking blueberry then had the nerve to come back for my spinach. Well, I really let her have it while my mom laughed at me.

My peppermint, you know I gotta have my mint, right, is coming up NICELY!

DSCN0295[1]

Hmmmmm…..I can almost taste fresh iced peppermint tea with a lemon wedge now! *sigh* My brother steals it, by the way, and pretends he “doesn’t know what happened.” Two weeks ago, a rabbit caught sight of my spinach.

DSCN0293[1]

This hoochie mama brought her children over and tried to climb my steps to feast on my budding spinach! I grow it in big containers to keep the deer and wild turkey away, but noooooooooooo…..she had to take it one step further. I yelled and waved my shovel at her and she just looked at me like I was crazy. Isn’t it a crying shame that I can’t enjoy the fruits of my labour because of Bugs Bunny? Anyways, I have a lot of work to do with my gardening and crafts…and trying to keep critters away from my food.

Enjoy this open thread.

Deadly Delivery

The Burger King

ENJOY THE CONVENIENCE OF BK®DELIVERED RIGHT TO YOUR DOOR.

ENTER YOUR ZIP CODE TO GET STARTED!

Doing its part to drastically shorten the trip between a Whopper and a hungry mouth, Burger King announced Tuesday its new delivery service is hitting Chicago, L.A. and San Francisco. Washington D.C., Houston, TX and New York were the first major cities to get delivery service (read...heavily black populated areas). In their attempt to exterminate the black population off of the face the earth, Jewish-owned Burger King will bring the food to you if you cannot go to them. Now, that’s dedication!

I’ve written several articles on the horse-meat, dog-meat, GMO and pink-slime loving, Zionist Fast Food Chains. I’ve made it no secret that we are targeted for death and have given you ample proof of this fact. Whites know that a tired mother (or father) will come home after her 10 hour shift, plop down on the couch, look at the kitchen with disdain and call the nearest delivery service to feed her hungry children. That is why in ALL black neighbourhoods they intentionally put a fast food restaurant/chicken joint, a liquor store, a lottery store (to give you hope that you’ll escape your situation), a check cashing place, a dirty laundromat and a candy/ soda store to help us commit suicide while capitalizing off of your death.

This is all apart of their plan, remember? Eugenics. It never went away. It’s just more subtle.

As we begin to raise our vibrations and become more aware of the many ways Evil is trying to destroy On High’s Original Peoples, the European is devising ways to tempt us into that destruction. I remember when going to McDonald’s was a treat delegated for birthday’s and special occasions. I can recall with delight the excitement of the Fun House and the smell of fresh French Fries. It was never a staple in my house, just a few-times-a-year thing. We always had home-made food and fresh baked goods to eat. My mother is perhaps the greatest chef in the world and would never allow her children to fill up on fats on a regular basis.

Today, however, things have changed. Moms and dads are overworked, underpaid, stressed, depressed and too tired to fight with an oven. Calling delivery services is so much easier and faster…and they know this. Make no mistake that the decision to deliver pink slime to your door was a carefully laid out plan in the making for perhaps years…if not decades. That is how they plan for us, by the decades.

Please resist the urge to call fast food res-terror-aunts. I know what it’s like to be hungry and tired and have no energy to cook when you get home. Here’s a tip that I’ve used in the past. You’ll need 2 items:

Wall Timer

A wall timer

Crock Pot

A good reliable crock pot.

Here’s how to do this:

Since most crock pot-friendly recipes cook within a 4-6 hour time frame on low heat, if you come home at , say 6 pm, set the wall timer to be activated at 1 or 2 pm. Put all ingredients with desired seasonings into the crock pot, please follow manufacturer’s directions, cover with the lid, make sure the pot is turned ON and simply wait for the timer to “click” itself on at your desired time.

The results are fantastic!

I’ve never had a bad turnout. I’ve cooked chili in the winter, chicken breast with baby carrots and rice, potatoes with lamb…the list is endless. And it’s fresh and ready when you get home.

Please utilize these tips to keep healthy and resist temptation from those that wish you harmed.

Whole Wheat Banana Bread Recipe

I just uploaded my favourite quick ‘n easy banana bread recipe. It has been a fan favourite in my family for as long as I can remember. This super simple yet nourishing recipe boasts an almost entirely wheat recipe with dark brown sugar. The texture is a bit rougher than white flour but fills you up a lot more.

I love it warm with Natural peanut butter. My mom loves hers with just a cup of tea. I hope you’ll try it and make it apart of your family favourite recipes. Available on my Etsy site in Word document.

More Black Survival Tips

As you know, Hurricane Sandy obliteraed parts of NY, NJ, CT and PA. I had no lights or heat in the freezing PA winter for 6 days and nights. If not for my wood burning stove…

Then the PLANNED Boston attacks happened and Martial Law took effect. My ex-coworker from Auburn, MA email me to tell me that it’s finally happened: A police state has arrived in the Divided Snakes.

Martial Law Excercise in Effect

Martial Law at your front door

Planning well is the first step towards survival. It is better to have more than you need and not use it, than to need it and not have it. The other day, I went out and saw a garage sale down the street from my house. Curiosity won over and I pulled over to glance at any items I may need to stock up on.

Then I saw this:

Butterfly Stove

What’s that you ask?

It’s called a Butterfly Kerosene Stove. It’s easily assembled and is very fuel efficient. I got this little puppy used, but in great condition, for a fraction of the cost! The owner was all too happy to part with it especially since he brought a huge portable stove on wheels that runs on cooking grease. I researched this little stove and it’s amazing what it can do. I decided I needed an oven to bake muffins and biscuits and found this:

Camp Oven

It’s called a Campers Oven and it’s easily available on Ebay or Walmart. I got mine used and beat up at the Salvation Army for 7.00. I cleaned it up and coated it with a fresh coat of heat-resistant paint, you know, the kind you paint your grill with. The results? A pretty darn good-looking, almost new oven to bake my banana muffins in. I tested out the oven by toasting my homemade bread and it works very well. You just have to keep a keen eye on the oven temperature to avoid burning your baked goods. And no, my bread did not smell or taste like kerosene.

You can find the Butterfly stove on Ebay or Craigslist for super cheap. They come in 1, 2 or 3 burners and can withstand a heavy stock pot. Also, the single burner is PORTABLE and fits easily in your trunk. I tested it out all week long with FULL, heavy meals like:

Soup

Oatmeal for breakfast

Grilled chicken

Brown Rice…

and it works like a charm. Please invest in one and buy some kerosene and stock it away. When the lights no longer come on, have you thought about how you’ll eat? Or feed the kids? Another great thing about this little gem is when shit hits the fans and your neighbours see smoke coming out of your chimney and they’re freezing and HUNGRY, what will you do when they show up on your doorstep asking to come in? With this stove, not one soul will know you can cook full, hearty meals! Sometimes the best way to hide is in plain sight.

By the way, this was the meal I made on my new kerosene stove:

Vegetable Stir fry

A yummy vegetable stir fry over brown rice.

The worse time to get prepared for an event is when the event is already taking place. Please research ways of cooking that do not require electricity.

White Poison in the Black Diet

In 1957, Dr. William Coda Martin tried to answer the question:

When is a food a food and when is it a poison?

His working definition of “poison” was: “Medically: Any substance applied to the body, ingested or developed within the body, which causes or may cause disease. Physically: Any substance which inhibits the activity of a catalyst which is a minor substance, chemical or enzyme that activates a reaction.” The dictionary gives an even broader definition for “poison”: “to exert a harmful influence on, or to pervert”.

Refined Sugar

Dr. Martin classified refined sugar as a poison because it has been depleted of its life forces, vitamins and minerals. “What is left consists of pure, refined carbohydrates. The body cannot utilize this refined starch and carbohydrate unless the depleted proteins, vitamins and minerals are present.

Refined sugar is lethal when ingested by humans because it provides only that which nutritionists describe as “empty” or “naked” calories. It lacks the natural minerals which are present in the sugar beet or cane.

In addition, sugar is worse than nothing because it drains and leaches the body of precious vitamins and minerals through the demand its digestion, detoxification and elimination makes upon one’s entire system. So essential is balance to our bodies that we have many ways to provide against the sudden shock of a heavy intake of sugar.

Sugar taken every day produces a continuously over-acid condition, and more and more minerals are required from deep in the body in the attempt to rectify the imbalance. Finally, in order to protect the blood, so much calcium is taken from the bones and teeth that decay and general weakening begin. Excess sugar eventually affects every organ in the body. Initially, it is stored in the liver in the form of glucose (glycogen). Since the liver’s capacity is limited, a daily intake of refined sugar (above the required amount of natural sugar) soon makes the liver expand like a balloon. When the liver is filled to its maximum capacity, the excess glycogen is returned to the blood in the form of fatty acids. These are taken to every part of the body and stored in the most inactive areas: the belly, the buttocks, the breasts and the thighs.

Dear Black Family

In the islands/ South America, we grow natural raw sugar cane.

Sugar cane plantation

We used to chop it down and eat it raw. Many of us, like my mom and aunts, used brown sugar to make homemade coconut candies called “Drops.” Our most popular candy, Busta, was made with real ginger, molasses and other spices. We gobbled up this dark, sweet sticky goodness like the world was coming to an end. We never got sick, had depression or got cavities. We intrinsically understood that natural ingredients, eaten raw, was never a threat to our health. In fact, the Rastas would chew on a piece of tree bark that would clean their teeth. Coming to AmeriKlan and eating white sugar gave our system quite a shock! Trips to the dentist soon followed and feelings of “uneasiness.”

When I learned just how detrimental white sugar was to the African, I was shocked. But sadly, I was  an addict. Nerds, Sugar Daddies, Gummy worms, Swedish Fish and my most vicious enemy, Peppermint Puffs, were inhaled by my lust for white sugar. The more I ate, the more I craved. It was soon followed by a “crash” where it all caught up with me and I needed to lie down.

My introduction into medicine gave me insight into how the foods that are placed in black neighbourhoods are packed with sugar! Everywhere we looked, sugar was all around us…in drinks, hot dogs, even potato chips. Remember the candy vending machines in school? Remember how we lined up for the sweetness immediately after we ate their salt-laden, fat-filled, frozen foods? It’s a miracle we even lived to be 20.

The chemists that plotted our demise knew that sugar, depleted of its nutrition, would react poorly with melanin. After all, a drug CANNOT be a drug if it doesn’t react with melanin!!! Ever wonder why they always test on white lab rats? It’s to see how it will react with the general population. Sugar in blacks causes:

Depression

Lethargy

Insomnia

Obesity

Diabetes Mellitus (pancreas)

Diabetes Insipidus (the kidneys)

Nervousness

The list goes on and on. I remember when raw, undiluted sugar cane was easily available and cheap in stores. Now, it’s expensive and hard to find. The system has intentionally taken away every and all available tools that will aid us in good health and recovery. Please educate yourself on the dangers of white sugar and if possible, use natural fruits as a sweetener.

Tip: I used to sprinkle sugar in my oatmeal. Now I cut up a ripe banana and mix it in my unsweetened cereal. Yum! Now I get fiber and potassium.

Aspartame: A Byproduct of White Greed

artificial sugar

Did you know that Aspartame was banned by the FDA twice? How is this product legal now?

The bittersweet argument over whether Aspartame is safe or not has been going on for a long time. On one side, we have medical evidence that suggests we should avoid using it and on the other side we lean on the FDA’s approval that suggests it is safe. Since generally that seems to be the factor that many continue to hold trust based upon, I thought we could look into the Aspartame story to find out how it came to be accepted as safe by the FDA. You would think that something so widely used and so well accepted would have quite the pristine story leading to its acceptance. I imagine one will discover otherwise after reading this post.

Aspartame

Aspartame

Aspartame

It all starts in the mid 1960′s with a company called G.D. Searle. One of their chemists accidentally creates aspartame while trying to create a cure for stomach ulcers. Searle decides to put aspartame through a testing process which eventually leads to its approval by the FDA. Not long after, serious health effects begin to arise and G.D. Searle comes under fire for their testing practices. It is revealed that the testing process of Aspartame was among the worst the investigators had ever seen and that in fact the product was unsafe for use. Aspartame triggers the first criminal investigation of a manufacturer put into place by the FDA in 1977. By 1980, the FDA bans aspartame from use after having 3 independent scientists study the sweetener. It was determined that one main health effects was that it had a high chance of inducing brain tumors. At this point it was clear that aspartame was not fit to be used in foods and banned is where it stayed, but not for long.

Early in 1981 Searle Chairman Donald Rumsfeld (who is a former Secretary of Defense.. surprise surprise) vowed to “call in his markers,” to get it approved. January 21, 1981, the day after Ronald Reagan’s inauguration, Searle took the steps to re-apply aspartame’s approval for use by the FDA. Ronald Reagan’s new FDA commissioner Arthur Hayes Hull, Jr., appointed a 5-person Scientific Commission to review the board of inquiry’s decision. It did not take long for the panel to decide 3-2 in favor of maintaining the ban of aspartame. Hull then decided to appoint a 6th member to the board, which created a tie in the voting, 3-3. Hull then decided to personally break the tie and approve aspartame for use. Hull later left the FDA under allegations of impropriety, served briefly as Provost at New York Medical College, and then took a position with Burston-Marsteller. Burstone-Marstella is the chief public relations firm for both Monsanto and GD Searle. Since that time he has never spoken publicly about aspartame.

It is clear to this point that if anything the safety of aspartame is incredibly shaky.  It has already been through a process of being banned and without the illegitimate un-banning of the product, it would not be being used today. Makes you wonder how much corruption and money was involved with names like Rumsfeld, Reagan and Hull involved so heavily. In 1985, Monsanto decides to purchase the aspartame patent from G.D. Searle. Remember that Arthur Hull now had the connection to Monsanto. Monsanto did not seem too concerned with the past challenges and ugly image aspartame had based on its past. I personally find this comical as Monsanto’s products are banned in many countries and of all companies to buy the product they seem to fit best as they are champions of producing incredibly unsafe and untested products and making sure they stay in the market place. { Copied from the truth about aspartame }

Blacks and Health: A Natural Way to Heal #11

“Why should anyone die who has sage in their garden?”

Sage

That is the old adage I’ve heard for years.

Sage is apart of the mint family (yes!) and has about 900 different species to boast. The botanical name Salvia is from the Latin word  “to save or to heal,” as in the word “salvation.” Africans have associated sage with immortality since they learned the secrets of this plant. Since roughly the 5th century B.C., Africans have used sage for a myriad of holistic and Spiritual reasons. Early medicine doctors knew that this herb could also help prevent “spasms” in the abdomen, heart and uterus and was administered to females in puberty, childbirth and menopause.

Workers and farmers were given sage to chew on while they toiled in the hot sun as it contains a “cooling agent” called phytosterols. I grow sage annually and can’t wait to harvest its leaves for its distinct flavour. Aside from enhancing the flavour of my stews, which I cook year round, sage is magnificent for:

Drying up phlegm (mucus) in your bronchial tubes (respiratory infections)

Coughing (boil the leaves and use as a gargle)

Diarrhea

Excessive perspiration

Menstrual cramps

Weaning your baby off of breast milk (it dries up mother’s milk)

Dandruff (use the leaves for tea and rinse your hair with it)

Eczema

Psoriasis

Restores colour to gray hair

Ringworm

Bacterial infections in and outside of the body

Jellyfish and spider bites

Indigestion and gas/bloating

Anxiety and Depression

The list is endless! I buy my seeds from the nursery and grow a planter-full every single year. While I toil and dig up weeds, I pinch off a few leaves to help me cool down with a tall glass of water. Please rediscover the miracle of God’s Plants. Soon, the pharmacies will close to us and we will not have easy access to synthetic medicines.

Eating to Live

anybody know some good healthy food recipes to eat? i’m trying to eat healthy but don’t want to be a vegan lol.  —-  mstoogood4yall

With the black obesity pandemic reaching epic proportions, this post is looooong over due. When I traveled across this country, I found vegetarian shops, vegan shops and “raw” food shops. None were in our neighbourhoods. In fact, most of us do not know what to eat in order to live healthy lives. Since I come from farmers and my gardening is my pride and joy, Ms. Too Good, this is for you:

This recipe is super easy, tasty and cheap! I still make this and it tastes good every time:

6 cups cooked brown rice or black (but black is more expensive)

1 can black or red kidney beans, rinsed and drained

1 cup freshly diced tomatoes

1/2 cup red onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, chopped

1 cayenne pepper, chopped or 1/2 tsp. cayenne powder

2 tblsp olive oil

1/2 cup fresh parsley

1/2 cup scallions

cut up cooked chicken, with no fat

Place all ingredients in a wok and stir-fry til hot. Serve with fresh parsley.

Can any of you give Ms. Too Good some healthy eating recipes that you love?

One of my Dill planters

One of my Dill planters

Last year, I grew absurd amounts of dill on my front porch (picture above). I toiled and toiled to the point of callouses to reap the benefits of this delicious herb. Dill, also called dillweed, is apart of a family called umbellifers. Did you know that this pungent and delicious herb is a cousin to the carrot? Parsley, parsnip and fennel are “grandparents” as well.

The common name dill comes from an Old Norse word “dilla” and means to calm or soothe.

Dill originated in Western Africa. A medicinal herb for at least 5,000 years, it was used as an aphrodisiac and in shamanism to ward off evil. Europeans discovered our herb when they raided the tomb of Amenhotep II and found him filled with this aromatic herb. Our ancestors knew of the benefits of this amazing plant and Eurasia soon followed in our footsteps. Caesar was said to eat large quantities of this herb after a large meal to soothe indigestion. Perhaps the most well-known use is this:

Dill pickle

Because of its strong flavor, dill has also been used for centuries to enhance the flavor of vegetables, meats and seafood.

Aside from gas, dill helps / prevents:

Dill relieves:

Insomnia

Asthma

Hiccups ( yes, it really works)

Dysentery

Diarrhea

Painful menstruation

Sores/ Ulcers (when grinded or pounded)

Our ancestors also used dill tea or pulverized dill as an early form of anti-septic for cuts, bruises and surgery. Aside from being delicious in fish and my soups, dill is an excellent way to get calcium.

I eat the whole thing…seeds and all!

Garlic

Did you know that garlic is actually in the onion family?

Cousins of this smelly bulb are shallots, chives and leeks. Over 7,ooo years old, this African plant/bulb has been used for its wonderful health benefit. Its hydrogen sulfide production is well-known amongst herbalists to help prevent colon, breast and prostate cancers.

Aside from being delicious in culinary cuisine, garlic protects the heart by:

Increasing blood flow to the arteries

Lowering cholesterol levels in the blood

Combating high blood pressure (when made into a tea)

Lowering blood sugar levels

When we were living in NYC, there was a little bakery that sold garlic knots. Drenched in garlic and fresh oregano, I inhaled these to the point of needing 2 showers a day! LOL!

I put garlic in just about everything I cook including fish and my stews. My friend eats garlic raw (followed by a tall drink of water) and urges us to incorporate this heart friendly bulb in all dishes.

Hot stuff comin’ through!

What could be more perfect than the tangy, nose-running, eye-watering Cayenne Pepper? God gave us a miracle when he created this seed. Named for the city of Cayenne located in French Guyana ( South America ), the fruit of this plant can be pulverized into a powder or baked to aid in delicious, nutritious, life-saving meals.

Cayenne Pepper is, what I like to call, “doctor in a bottle.” One teaspoon of this powder can relieve:

Gas

Heartburn

Gout

Tremors

Ague/ Fever

Sore throat/ Cough

Painful menstruation

Nausea

Delirium

Heart Attacks

Diabetes

Stroke

Diarrhea

Common Cold

Congestion

Athlete’s Foot/ Fungus

Migraine Headaches

Arthritis

Back pain ( when made into a paste )

Weight Loss

Yes, you are reading correctly. A 3.99 bottle of this spicy wonder can cure/help ALL those illnesses.

Sound pretty good to me. Black Family, we need to wean ourselves off of the European’s poison called Pills. Soon they will not be so readily available or affordable to us. Learn the power of herbs/roots and see just how healthy you can be.

Me: Did you just eat all my parsley?

My brother: Ummm…..maybe. I can’t remember…

Parsley's Health Benefits When Juicing

The healing powers of parsley( I will lump Chinese Parsley, also called Coriander, in this article ) isn’t lost on my family. In fact, my brother eats this delicious herb like children eat candy. Parsley, Jah’s natural blood cleaner, is so potent that a few sprigs contain a whopping 23% of vitamin C and 10 sprigs have an incredible 205% of vitamin K!

I grow ridiculous quantities of this all spring/ summer to cook my stews, meats and fish with. Sold in seeds, which are so easy to grow, they provide us with Vitamins that are good for:

Bad breath

High blood pressure (parsley is a diuretic which means it aids you in urination)

Liver and Kidney function

Chlorophyll (to clean your blood)

Sinusitis

Whooping Cough

Gas (Flatulence)

Antioxidants to fight cancer

Bones

Stroke

Heart Disease

Diabetes

For a small price, about 1.99 for an entire packet of 50 seeds, you get a big benefit.

It’s that time again.

Anything on your minds? The year is ending soon and we all have doubts and fears on what 2013 will bring. I do.

Do you?

Blacks and Health: The Natural Way to Heal Part 4

Vinegar is a product of fermentation. This is a process in which sugars in a food are broken down by bacteria and yeast. In the first stage of fermentation, the sugars are turned into alcohol. Then, if the alcohol ferments further, you get vinegar. The word comes from the French, meaning “sour wine.”

The many uses for apple cider vinegar are endless, but these are the most well-known:

It kills head lice

Eases digestion

Washes toxins from the body

In addition to that, it fights/aids:

Every black household should have a bottle or two stored away for daily health maintenance.

The Power of Hibiscus Tea:

Blacks are prone to high blood pressure.

Stress from racism, overt and covert, gives the majority of us anger issues (me especially) and without a way to channel our pain, our bodies suffer. There are days when my urge to flee from this prison plantation comes too close to the surface and I must duck into the bathroom at work, an empty room, a closet or the safety of my car to remove myself from the vibes of my enemy. Poor eating habits are apart of our culture since Demonic forces brought us here:

And we assimilated into a mental plantation where food is our curse. Many of us simply do not know what to eat in order to heal ourselves. High blood pressure is our silent killer. It will harden your arteries making you prone to heart attacks and strokes. Hibiscus tea, rich with antioxidants, along with a NO SALT diet, will help you to reverse some of the damages.

Buying in bulk will save you money and many teas are affordable on Ebay. Aside from being fruity and delicious, this potent tea cleans your blood and helps to remove low-density lipo-proteins, which simply means: It helps to control high cholesterol. Please begin to eat to live. Not live to eat.

The Benefits of Black Rice

“Anything white is bad for the African”—Dr. Afrika

Like brown rice, black rice is full of antioxidant-rich bran, which is found in the outer layer that gets removed during the milling process to make white rice. But only black-rice contains the antioxidants known as anthocyanins, purple and reddish pigments — also found in blueberries, grapes, and acai — that have been linked to a decreased risk of heart disease and cancer, improvements in memory, and the maintenance of high blood pressure and diabetes.

The combination of antioxidants found in black rice packs a one-two punch that could make it a particularly good food for your health. Mostly found in China, this beneficial rice isn’t well known to the black populous ..or made easily affordable:

http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/organic_heirloom_rice.htm?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cse&utm_term=OHRFRO&gclid=CKWb_vnQiLMCFUOK4AodNAsAyg

The lowest price is $3.59 for only 15 ounces!!!

Whilst traveling across the nation, I’ve only found black rice in certain white dominated whole foods / organic stores in California.

Black rice is very good for:

1. Your kidneys

2. Your colon

3. Your liver

The three main organs blacks need for good health. Black rice is grown and shipped primarily from mainland China…which is ironic because rice comes from Africa.

Once our communities are strengthened by our own efforts, I hope one day we will have access to fresh farmer’s markets where beneficial and life-saving natural foods will be apart of our daily habits. In the meantime, please consider growing your herbs and vegetables like I do in the wintertime:

Food As A Weapon

This is documented truth. Wake up black people!!!

Fat and Black: Obesity in AmeriKlan

We need to talk. This is getting worse. And not because I love black people doesn’t mean I won’t be honest. The master, in his graciousness, gave us the food that he didn’t want. If you were a House Negro, that meant eating what he ate. Field Negroes, on the other hand, had to fend for themselves. They ate leftovers of pigs, cows, rabbits and sometimes, snakes. You know the leftovers as innards or chitterlings. We, being the Original Peoples of the Earth, used natural spices like pepper, salt(as a preservative…a post on the origin of high blood pressure to come), “bush” a.k.a. oregano, peppermint, bay leaves, etc…to make the flavour of this strange new food go down a little easier. We mastered the outdoor cookery whites claim they invented and called “barbecue” and used fruit juice and brown sugar a.k.a. “granny’s molasses” to spice up ham, chicken and alligator.

Food, being the essence of life, became imperative. And working out in the fields for 15 hours with the overseer waiting to pounce, made the black man’s tummy rumble…hard. So we ate. And ate. And ate. For blacks, food is love. When you visit granny and she has a sweet potato pie in the oven sprinkled with cinnamon, it takes you back to your childhood when she would cook on an outdoor oven. For blacks, food…is everything. And that’s the problem. Eating with a vengeance was necessary to maintain one’s strength on the plantation.

Well, we ain’t on the plantation no more. But we sure eat like it! Being pushed into the ghettos via white flight, with little resources like fresh farmer’s markets, home-grown vegetables and “granny’s bush tea” that cures damn near everything, we ate, drank and smoked what was available to us. Fast food. Liquor. Menthol cigarettes(A post yet to come on blacks and Big Tabacco).

All apart of “The Plan”

Food, like heroin, is a drug. When you try to find a job and you’re told nothing’s available, it adds to your sorrow for you know works exists…just not for you. So you eat. When you want to buy a house in your neighbourhood of choice and you’re told that there are no available homes, it adds to your disappointment, for you know a house exists…just not for you. So you eat. And when you see someone else get that promotion that you were qualified for because they are “friendly” with the boss, it adds to your stress…So you eat. And keeping things real..this economy isn’t helping our situation. All apart of “The Plan.” And please read “The Fear”

I hate statistics. They are always skewered because they are written by white men on our behalf, which is why I hardly use them. I did research last night and came up with this:

Recent reports show that substantial differences exist in obesity prevalence by race/ethnicity, and these differences vary by sex and age. For example, according to 2005–2008 data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 51% of non-Hispanic black women aged 20 years or older were obese, compared with 43% of Mexican Americans and 33% of whites. Among females aged 2–19 years, 24% of non-Hispanic blacks, 19% of Mexican Americans, and 14% of whites were obese. Efforts are being made to reduce these disparities by focusing interventions on subgroups with high prevalence of obesity.

If this is indeed true…what could be some of the underlying factors?

1. Poor education about diet and exercise

2. Being “thick” is sexy and womanly in the black culture. If you’re a man, you are a “teddy bear”

3. Granny says, “Clean your plate. There are starving kids in Africa!”

4. Being naturally big-boned(not all of us but enough)

5. Just being plain lazy about exercise

6. Poverty…This is HUGE! Ever go to Foodmart and see all the fried, frozen foods that are marked 10 for $5.00 while the fresh zucchini is 3.99/lb? Ever wonder why food stamps and WIC will pay for certain items and NOT for others? Hmmmm……

7. Big business PURPOSEFULLY develops fast food joints in low-income neighbourhoods whilst wealthier white neighbourhoods ALWAYS have “natural foods” markets.

8. Food is “love”

9. ” We’ve always eaten like this in my family!”

10. “We just don’t know what else to eat!”

Guess what? Keep eating like that and diabetes, hypertension, stroke, heart attacks and congestive heart failure is just around the corner. And remember folks, we also do not have access to decent healthcare. In fact, many Coloureds in AmeriKlan are uninsured…so I dare you to tell me something isn’t “going on.” Guys, I want the best for you. But I can’t help you if you don’t help yourselves. So get off the couch, stop buying sodas or, if you MUST,  drink them in extreme moderation, take a walk, park at the furthest space and walk an extra 1/8 of a mile, if the money will allow, buy a treadmill for colder weather, drink WATER, not fruit punch ( sugar causes depression ), don’t use extra salt…in fact, just sprinkle on Mrs. Dash with fresh herbs and fresh pepper and call it a day. Fast food should be a once in-a-while treat, like ice cream. When you are finished eating, put the plate away so you don’t pick…and tell grandma you’ll only have one helping of Pecan Pie. And walk, walk, walk. Africans are natural walkers and runners…let’s get back to that.

Please pass this around to all brown people. Education matters.
