Observations of an Invisible Woman

Why AmeriKlan Will Never Change

Last night, I did something I rarely do.

I turned on the TV. Television for me has become a modern-day version of a minstrel show as far as we’re concerned. I stopped watching when Mr. Redstone took over BET and changed it into the “Darkie ” channel. And please, for the love of God, do NOT get me started on Jerry Springer and Maury Povich.

I was flipping through the channels and came to some program; I think it was a reality show that showed this bride-to-be, a black woman, yelling in someone’s face about how this was her special day and everyone had to do what she said, follow her rules, yada, yada, yada…

Guys, let’s be real.

Most women on their special day are so nervous about the “I do’s” and getting to hair and makeup that we don’t have time to have an epic meltdown. Now, now…I know that this is being done in the name of television ratings but still…aren’t blacks portrayed badly enough? We’re welfare mom’s who prostitute ourselves for fried chicken, drug addicts, she-gang members…and now badly-behaving brides?

When will it end? Television is made for “entertainment purposes only”  in AmeriKlan. But why is it always done at our expense?

Television is powerful, and since white men control almost all of the mainstream channels you see, this is why the crap we see is the way it is.

Will it collapse? It may one day. All empires fall including business empires. In the mean time it’s up to us to create our own media and speak our own messages.

  2. beau dietl spoke about the same subject matter a few weeks ago on a recent Don Imus program. Kind of funny how everyone seems to have the same opinion.

  3. I’m glad that I’m not alone in my psychosis. LOL!

  4. I really would like to think of that as a cynical remark. I do not sense psychosis. I do not think its possible to be psychotic with a system that is psychotic as its a double-negative.

  5. @omalone

Good. I was afraid to death that I was going mad…again.

  6. curious comment, so let me reiterate the words of Krishnamurti who reminded us: it is not a sign of good-health to be well-adjusted to a sick society. Even inside the GP office, I’ve concluded that if you’re non-white, health care is war-fare. (fair=fear)

  7. Hmmmm well said. I agree.
